Bill,

Is there any particular reason for moving up the dates this year? Personally I think this is a good change since a lot of out-of-state and international students on our team are disadvantaged by the evGP usually happening after the on-campus housing contracts end. Hopefully not too many of our classes decide to have projects due that week.

Brian,
Here is what I know.
As you are aware, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is busy almost all year, but in the month of MAY is runs flat out, and because of this real estate is hard to come by within the track. Each year we continue to grow and just finding places to park so your not a quarter of a mile away is becoming harder and harder. Last year, for example, we were told we could enlarge the track area and move the pits onto the blacktop lot near the track, at the last minute that all fell apart, and we had to reconfigure everything. No dates were available in May that would allow us any movement. It is one of the coolest sites to host a race hand down, but it has to make sense for all parties. Purdue University and the Speedway both want the event to stay at IMS and worked hard to lock this date down. Will it work for everyone? I hope so!

I can tell you this; it was not a knee jerk decision; there were a lot of emails going back and forth for months.

I hope that gives you a little clarity.
